About the Pediatric Neurocritical Care Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital

The Pediatric Neurocritical Care Program (PNCP) at St. Louis Children’s Hospital coordinates multidisciplinary clinical efforts for critically ill children with brain injuries.

The primary goal of the PNCP is to provide excellence in clinical care by integrating the best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values. Additionally, t
he PNCP research efforts will result in improved care and novel therapies for critically ill children suffering neurological disorders.

The PNCP also contributes to St. Louis Children's Hospital educational efforts on
injury prevention and clinical care.

Regardless of the primary diagnosis, quality of life is principally determined by neurological outcome. Improving outcome following a brain injury will profoundly impact quality of life for stricken children and their families.

The program officially launched in the summer of 2008.

About Greg Primo

On June 19th, 2007 Greg Primo (16 years old at the time) was pitching in an American Legion baseball game when he delivered a pitch that was lined straight back into his head just above his right ear. The impact fractured his skull and caused serious brusing and swelling of the brain, and left Greg in critical condition. He spent a total of nine days in St. Louis Children’s Hospital, four of them in a coma.

Greg is also a musician, and now utilizes his talents to raise funds for the The Pediatric Neurocritical Care Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Greg Primo is the son of Mike Primo - co-owner of Aarch Caster and Equipment.
